Giovanni Is and excellent guide
Upon meeting he made sure the helmets were fitting correctly and that everyone was comfortable on their bike.
The bikes were clean and in excellent working order.
The first part of the tour was around Fiesole itself with lots of information on the history, and then we got onto the roads in the area. He was always checking that everyone was OK and indicated to us when there was a hill coming up (likewise going down) so that we could adjust our gears accordingly.
we stopped off at a wee market and were given hunks of local cheese to try (even being a non-cheese lover I could tell it was good)
We then stopped at a farm shop to pick up the ingredients for lunch, then cycled on to another farm - our lunch venue where wine was taken straight from the vat.
Giovanni then prepared lunch for us and when finished we completed our tour back to the start.
it was a full morning (+lunch), so well worth the money.
I would thoroughly recommend Giovanni - this is more than a tour, you feel his passion and love for the area.ac
I actually came to Fiesole mainly to do this bike tour because the reviews were so incredible—and it still far exceeded my expectations.
This ended up being one of the highlights of our entire Italy trip. I spent a long time planning a special itinerary with many amazing experiences, and this may honestly have been my favorite day.
Giovanni is the perfect guide. At the beginning he makes sure everyone understands the bikes, gears, and signals so everyone feels safe and comfortable. Then he strikes the perfect balance of guiding the group while letting you simply enjoy the ride.
The ride itself is breathtaking. You move through rolling Tuscan countryside filled with olive groves, cypress trees, and incredible views toward Florence. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen, and the farm lunch was fantastic—fresh, local food in a beautiful setting.
The e-bikes are also perfect: you still feel active, but climbing the hills is easy and fun.
Our whole group was blown away, and we talked about this experience for the rest of the trip.
If you’re anywhere near Florence, this alone is worth coming to Fiesole for. We also loved staying in Fiesole and visiting Florence during the day before returning to the peaceful hill town at night.
This day was truly delightful, and Giovanni is an exceptional host. Highly recommend.
What a wonderful tour!! The e-bikes made the beautiful hills an easier ride. Giovanni was THE BEST. He explained so much of the history of the area since he is linked to generations from Fiesole. One of the highlights of our tour was the meal of snacks we had from a local farm, which we ate at another local vineyard!! You can see our host Giovanni preparing our meal and two wonderful friends we met on our tour. Make your reservations directly on Giovanni's website. It is THE BEST way to support him and his local business.
This was the highlight of our trip to Italy. The scenery is spectacular! Giovanni is the best guide/host you could ask for. He had so many interesting bits of history to share with us. He knows the area well, it’s been his home his entire life. Eating local foods and wine straight from the farm was very special. The e-bikes are easy to use and make riding the hills a breeze. I highly recommend this activity!
We had a fantastic time on our E-bike tour provided by our superb host Giovanni - it has been a big highlight of our trip! Riding around Fiesole town and country with an E-bike was so pleasant and fun, easily travelling 10s of km without really breaking a sweat. Giovanni was so engaging and knowledgeable, and provided a great deal of interesting information and history about Fiesole and Florence. He lead us safely on the road and we highly enjoyed the delicious range of local produce and wine he provided for lunch. Couldn't recommend it more!
As an American who spoke little to no Italian when I arrived in Florence, I was relieved by Giovanni’s exceptional English. He skillfully incorporated Italian into the tour, which made the experience more immersive and engaging. Beyond that, Giovanni was hands down the best tour guide I’ve encountered during my entire trip to Italy. His sole focus was on making sure we enjoyed ourselves. When he noticed us admiring the countryside, he allowed us to savor the moment. If we had questions, he always had thoughtful and insightful answers. I can’t recommend him enough! The electric bikes were an absolute blast to ride and surprisingly easy to handle, even for someone like me—a larger guy who spends most of his time working from home. Thank you, Giovanni, for an unforgettable experience. Visiting Fiesole, your hometown, was an absolute joy. Ride safe! 🤗
We had a wonderful tour with Giovanni! I highly recommend, it’s the perfect way to see the countryside. Giovanni is very knowledgeable and such a nice man! Fantastic tour!
Cannot recommend Giovanni enough. Easy to get to Fiesole by bus or cab and then do your tour to get outside of the city and enjoy the Tuscan hills! Grazie Mill, Giovanni!
I took an e-bike tour with Fiesole Bike on May 23! We had two guides for our group of 7. We had an amazing time! It's such a fun and unique way to see Tuscany.
I was sick on the day of the tour so I couldn't ride as far as my family, and one of our guides adapted the tour for me. While the rest of our group kept riding, our guide took me and my mom to pick up our family's lunch from the local market stand. When we took interest in the fava beans, they let us take some with us to try! They also gave us fresh pears. After that, our guide took us to the farm and winery and took the two of us on a tour of the winery and showed us around the farm.
The farm tasting was lovely! We had fresh cured meats, bread (that was still warm) from a local bakery, freshly grown pears with pecorino cheese, the fava beans, and olive oil that was made on the farm we were at.
Overall this was a great experience, and if you have the time while in Florence I would highly recommend this tour.
Merci encore Giovanni !
We did this bike ride on our last day in Florence. Great end to the trip. Giovanni was a fantastic guide. We started riding around Fiesole and learning to ride the bikes and then headed out to the countryside. The views are spectacular. The trips ends with a stop at a farmers stand and a picnic outdoors at a farm. I noticed quite a few Italians out with chairs and blankets. They had all come out to watch the sunset over Florence. Sunday is a "holiday" and that seems like a nice way to escape the city and the heat.
The bikes are electric. You can pedal as hard or as little as you want. We climbed quite a bit and I returned with 50% battery. Pretty impressive.
#7 bus from Florence to the last stop. Bus stop is here, right outside a McDonalds. You can buy tickets on the bus or on the app. https://maps.app.goo.gl/2RoRaVLH3LapRGA97 Once you arrive at Cathedral di San Romolo the tour starts here... https://maps.app.goo.gl/Uk9ApwcrTn44SrMY6 Giovanni's setup is unmarked but if you're looking at the front doors of the cathedral he will come out of a door on your right.
Ciao Jim, grazie!
Take care,
Giovanni
