Excellent bikes and flexible service!
We had a great experience in the Tuscany area. The bikes were in excellent condition and very comfortable for our trip. The staff was super friendly and flexible — returning and picking up the bikes was easy thanks to their convenient concept of delivering and collecting the bikes at selected locations. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the area by bike!

Nous avons loué 2 vélos pour faire 3 jours en Toscane. Les vélos étaient en bon état. La communication avec Paolo était réactive et bonne.
Cependant nous avons reçu les vélos que vers 11h30 am ce qui était très tard par rapport à notre programme de journée.
Je pense qu'il faut prévoir d'être livré la veille afin d'être sûr que les vélos soient disponibles à temps.

Je suis désolé que l’horaire de livraison vous ait semblé tardif. Comme indiqué dans nos conditions de location, les livraisons sont prévues le matin entre 10h00 et 12h00, donc la livraison à 11h30 était bien dans le délai prévu.
Votre demande d’avancer la livraison nous est parvenue le matin même, alors que le camion de livraison avait déjà commencé sa tournée, ce qui rendait tout changement impossible. Si nous avions reçu la demande au moins la veille, nous aurions probablement pu trouver une solution.
Merci encore pour votre compréhension et votre confiance, et j’espère que vous avez tout de même bien profité de votre séjour à vélo en Toscane !

Had a great experience with Paolo and Tuscany Ride in the Box. I was in Florence for a week, and was able to book my bike rental easily, and it was delivered/picked up during the timing discussed. Very happy with the service and hope it continues to grow! Would happily recommend for others visiting the region looking for a bike to ride!

Bike was very good quality. However, the bike arrived with low tire pressure in rear wheel. Also, I did not realize I had to bring my own hex tool for my pedals (they said tools were provided, but only for the axles, seat post, and handlebars). The staff was helpful, but because I was staying in a remote B&B, they couldn't help. To minimize risk, rent from a local bike shop.

thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you recognized the high quality of the bike.
Just to clarify — before delivery, we sent the detailed page of the bike and accessories, and you confirmed you didn’t need pedals or helmet because you had your own. The bike was prepared according to the manufacturer’s specifications and fitted with Tannus anti-puncture protection, which requires a lower tire pressure (around 4 bar instead of 6–8).
Regarding the pedals, the required hex key was not included because it wasn’t requested. I even suggested going to Hotel Palme, located just a few meters from your accommodation, where our partners could have helped immediately, but unfortunately you didn’t go.
It’s a pity you wrote this review without even trying the bike, which was in perfect condition. We always do our best to ensure a professional and reliable service — and thousands of satisfied riders can confirm that.

We were very disappointed with the bikes we rented from Ride in the Box. We rented two trekking bikes for a month to ride self-supported from Pavia to Rome on the Via Francigena. The bikes were delivered to our hotel as promised in very sturdy boxes and although they needed some adjustments to handle bars and brakes that's to be expected when bikes are shipped. The bikes were sturdy and well geared for the type of riding we were doing, but one of the bikes did not shift properly and had to be adjusted by a bike mechanic.
The other bike we received was not safe to ride. The seat post did not stay in position no matter how much we tightened it. The bolt to tighten the handle bars was stripped and rusted into place so the handlebars could not be adjusted or tightened and the handle bars were loose and wobbled. And the headset bearings needed to be lubricated or replaced making it impossible to steer the bike safely, especially going downhill. We asked for a replacement bike but were told that was not possible. We were told the problems were probably from adjustments we had done incorrectly and we should just go to a bike shop and get it fixed. Unfortunately there are not a lot of bike shops in the small villages on that route. We eventually got the seat post compression ring and handlebar bolt replaced but the headset remained an issue. Paolo did offer to reimburse us for the repairs but this bike should never have been rented out, especially for a month long, fully loaded tour. This was a terrible experience.

I would just like to clarify that the bike was delivered in perfect working condition — if the bolts had been stripped as you mentioned, we wouldn’t have been able to adjust the handlebar during preparation. It’s possible that the bolts were over-tightened afterwards, which may have caused the damage. Regarding the seat post, it was the original one and had always worked properly before being shipped.
The replacement seat post you installed had a smaller diameter and, unfortunately, tightening it caused the frame to bend. The bike is now unusable and will have to be scrapped. Moreover, no invoice was ever provided for the claimed repair.
In the end, we suffered damage and received a negative review — it happens, and we take it philosophically. We always try to do our best, and we’re truly sorry this experience didn’t go as smoothly as it should have.

Les vélos (e-gravel) étaient en très bon état et le service de livraison a très bien fonctionné! Malheureusement, les sacoches fournies n'étaient pas celles commandées. Sur un des vélos, elles étaient en mauvais état et n'étaient surtout pas adaptées à la pratique du gravel (tenues à distance des rayons par des élastiques...). Nous avons dû adapter le parcours en conséquence. C'est vraiment dommage au vu du prix payé.

Vous avez tout à fait raison : le mécanicien a commis une erreur impardonnable en vous remettant les mauvaises sacoches. Nous nous en excusons sincèrement.
Je tiens simplement à préciser que les sacoches vous ont été fournies gratuitement, à titre de courtoisie, alors qu’elles constituent normalement un service optionnel à sélectionner et régler lors de la réservation. Si cette option avait été cochée sur notre système de réservation, la photo du modèle correct serait apparue et l’erreur aurait pu être évitée.

Overall, a good value, but there are some areas they can improve. I ordered a Wilier bike but received a Cannondale, an "upgrade" according to the local vendor. The main website gets the order and hands off to local vendors to fulfill. However, sometimes the messages don't get through to the local guy. Local guy was very helpful and attentive - didn't know of the Wilier request. It would have been nice if they would have at least told me the change in bikes. Worth a 2nd try in the future for me.

Just to clarify — the shop where you picked up the bike is not one of our branches, but simply a friend who kindly agreed to hand it over, since your accommodation was located inside the pedestrian area, in a small alley not accessible by van. The shop wasn’t involved in the rental itself.
To offer you the best possible service, I decided to deliver a higher-level bike. When you mentioned you would have preferred a Wilier, I immediately offered to replace it, but you told me you wanted to try this one first and, if you didn’t like it, you would then ask for a change.
I’m sorry if something didn’t fully meet your expectations, but please know we did our best to assist you and provide a top-quality bike for your ride.

Thank you, receiving compliments at the end of the season when we are already exhausted makes us feel even more pleased.
The service was essentially exactly what we needed! There was one minor hitch with the delivery of the bikes (we had to take them to a mechanic), but everything was there. The only other issue was that the inner tubes provided were not the right size. But the bikes were great, price good, and there are few companies that let you rent in Aosta and deliver in Rome!

As for the handlebar, unfortunately with gravel bikes we have to turn it sideways to fit them into the box, and we know it’s not always easy to put it back correctly. We’re currently working on a video tutorial to help future customers with this step.
