We greatly enjoyed our day of biking with Massimo's bikes! The e-bikes are great - they ride comfortably. The electrical support is greatly welcome - especially for us people from the low countries used to relatively flat roads and dedicated bike infrastructure ;-)

They give you a map for a ca 60km tour visiting Civita di Bagnoregio (the dying city), Bolsena, and a low traffic return route. This was a great experience for us - beautiful landscapes, gorgous viewpoints, and a totally different scenery than Orvieto. Well worth the while if you stay for a few days in Orvieto!

A couple of things to know:
- best to depart as early as possible if you want to have time enough to visit everything - and even then you'll only have 1-1.5hr or so at both stops
- you do need to navigate with your mobile - so best to have it charged. We didn't need a powerbank.
- roads with 10+% incline are not uncommon.
- Google maps will occasionally send you via very steep roads (especially in Orvieto and leaving Bolsena). You can always take the longer, curvier route for a gentler slope however.

Renting a gravel bike from Orvieto Bike Experience was one of the highlights of my trip to Italy. The staff were incredibly friendly and the suggested route to Civita Di Bagnoregio showcased the spectacular Umbrian landscape. The bike was in great condition and was perfect for my needs and all accessories (helmet, phone holder and repair kit) were provided for. They also had a selection of locally designed jerseys which made a nice souvenir of the experience.

The bike rental shop in Orvieto is called CicloStile. It is near Piazza della Republica off Corso Cavor. I would have missed it. My boyfriend saw a bike sign and we followed it into a small courtyard where there was a women’s dress shop. The bike store operates out of this clothing shop. We asked about renting bikes two days in advance for fear they would be sold out. That didn’t seem to be an issue at all mid-June. The owner gave us a map and told us how to take the best route using Google maps. We are very excited!

Renting E bikes was a fabulous way to visit Orievto and the surrounding countryside. Not to be missed is the cycle out to Civita Di Bagnoregio. Massimo was flexible and accommodating. He provided us with information about the route and went out of his way to collect the bikes from our hotel which was certainly appreciated. It was our first time trying E bikes and won’t be our last. Highly recommend this bike shop!
