A visit to the Santa Maria Valverde winery was a wonderful experience.
We began with a stroll along the terraces planted with various grape varieties. I specifically chose the end of September to see the winery during its full harvest.
I listened to its 200-year tradition since its founding, the history of the region, and the history of Verona from the Roman Empire to the present day. The owner's stories were vivid and full of passion.
A very friendly young woman spoke about the production and guided us around the building and cellars, sharing her extensive knowledge.
Finally, the hostess demonstrated true Italian hospitality and prepared refreshments (local delicacies, cheeses, cold cuts, and appetizers to accompany the tasting of three wines).
While pouring us the wine, the winery owner continued his wonderful stories about the history of Verona and the region. It was a wonderful experience that I recommend to everyone 🍇🍷

Qualche ora di relax in mezzo alla natura!
Ho avuto la fortuna di vivere quest'esperienza nel periodo subito successivo alla vendemmia e ciò mi ha permesso di vedere con i miei occhi le prime fasi di questo "magico" processo.
Ma alla fine dietro non ci sono incantesimi, c'è la passione e competenza di Nicola, il produttore, che amalgama tutti gli ingredienti e riesce a tirare fuori il suo prodotto.
Ottima la degustazione, per me è stata di 4 vini, con abbinamenti di formaggi, salumi e mostarda scelti con cura, accompagnati anche da olio sempre prodotto in questa tenuta.
Nicola mi ha accompagnato tutto il tempo mettendomi a mio agio e facendomi scoprire anche un po' di storia di questo territorio.
Grazie per la piacevole giornata.

Abbiamo fatto la caccia al tartufo pochi giorni fa e, onestamente, non potevo aspettare niente di meglio. Un posto splendido, vero paradiso, il personale super disponibile e attento (Ilaria stupenda), esperienza unica ed emozionante. E non parliamo del cibo e dei vini squisiti ❤️ Da rifare assolutamente e da provare altre esperienze!

Tucked into a bend on a hillside, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, the green doors of Santa Maria Valverde conceal what becomes an unforgettable experience.

Our visit began with a short but wonderfully detailed tour, led by Rachel, who spoke excellent English and shared the history and production of the estate with clarity and enthusiasm. This was followed by an olive oil tasting—four or five regional varieties, each with its own distinct character, all explained with care and knowledge.

What came next may not happen on every visit—but we felt incredibly lucky. There were seven of us: two Italians, two Scots, and the three of us. The owner’s wife joined us for the wine tasting, bringing with her an assortment of local cheeses, salami, and of course, their family-made wines. As we sat together on the terrace of their 600-year-old home, looking out toward the distant Alps, we shared stories, laughter, and proud reflections on our children.

The sun was perfect, their dogs and playful puppies wandered between our feet, and it genuinely felt less like a tour and more like an afternoon spent with friends.

On a practical note: there’s wine and olive oil to taste and buy, toilets available, and limited but sufficient parking. Just go with warmth and respect—and if you're lucky, you may walk away with a memory that money can’t buy.

Esperienza caccia al tartufo e degustazione in cantina. Ilaria, persona super disponibile e competente! I cani meravigliosi, contesto favoloso per un'esperienza altrettanto fantastica, sicuramente da fare a contatto con la natura alla ricerca del tartufo poi mangiato in un ottimo piatto di pasta. Cantina super curata e prodotti di alta qualità.
Nota di merito al piccolo Albert, mascotte della struttura, che ci ha accompagnati durante tutto il tragitto!

I booked a winery tour through Viator after confirming that a shuttle from Verona station was included. After the cancellation window had passed, Jacopo, the winery tour operator, informed me the shuttle was cancelled due to low bookings and that I’d need to pay €100 extra for private transport. The original tour was €70, shuttle included, so now the same tour is €170. When I explained this was not what I agreed to and requested a refund, Jacopo refused—and as a result, so did Viator. Deeply disappointing. Dishonest tour operation.

It is about the money gouging, but also the principle. I might have been ok to pay 100 euros for the pick up if I was informed in advance. It is the fact that Jacopo thinks it is ok to tell clients to take public transportation when they are expecting a tour shuttle. Poor business conduct. Also, the bus he suggested was earlier than my train arrival. When I asked to clarify what he meant by “postpone” the night before, he did not respond. Now I believe he was trying to buy time on purpose so I am in the position where I must go on the tour without the shuttle otherwise I lose money. I canceled my entire plan to visit Verona as without the winery tour conducted as scheduled, no other plans worked. It shows he has no respect for others’ plans and schedules, especially travel schedules. The way Jacopo handled my reservation was unprofessional.

Приезжаем уже второй раз за восхитительными впечатлениями: прекрасны вид на холмы и виноградники, аутентичная винодельня с деревянными бочками и натуральной отработкой винограда.
В этот раз подарили этот опыт как подарок на День рождения. Спасибо Ракель за замечательную экскурсию и дегустацию. Прекрасно провели время! Обязательно вернемся еще.

Quelle belle expérience que celle ci.

La route sinueuse, le lieu un peu retiré en hauteur, le paysage est superbe.
Ce paysage digne des plus beaux tableaux, exceptionnel.
La balade explicative de l'histoire du vignoble dans les vignes même, et de l'histoire du couple de propriétaires (charmant eux aussi !) accompagnée d'Ilaria (et du chat câlin !) fut fort agréable et intéressante.
Il va de même pour la visite du reste, la cave, la dégustation.
Nous avons été enivrés du lieu, des vins divins, des fromages/charcuterie, l'authencite sincère des gens (même la dame de 90 ans qui est venu...en vélo pas électrique, jusque la, pour un visite/dégustation!!) et le coup de cœur pour les surprenantes cerises à la moutarde !..
On sent l'ambiance familiale et chaleureuse.

The truffle hunt was an amazing experience walking through the hills and woods of the Valpolicella region. A great experience with many truffles found by a very enthusiastic dog with our guide. After the hunt back at the Winery we had an amazing lunch with wine pairing. The wine quality is exceptional . All of the staff were wonderful, so helpful and knowledgeable. Certainly a day to remember.

Esperienza unica e splendida in questa bellissima azienda agricola con piena vista sulla Valpolicella!
Visita ai vigneti con spiegazione della cultura naturalistica e biologica del produttore, visita alla cantina con botti in legno ed in acciaio, dopodiché assaggio dei vini con pairing di formaggi, salumi e dolci tipici locali.
Oltre alla bontà dei vini ed alla splendida cornice della location la quinta stella va a Cecilia, una ragazza (e di sicuro una futura enologa davvero capace) dolcissima, gentile e simpatica che ci ha illustrato con passione ed attenzione tutte le caratteristiche peculiari del produttore e della zona!
Se potessi di stelle ne meriterebbe dieci!

A wonderful day of wine tasting. Passionate tour guide, leisurely tour of the vineyard and then the cellar before finally getting to sample some delicious wines of different vintages. Esperienza da rifare.Vino eccellente, salumi e formaggio buonissimi,giro della cantina estremamente interessante. C'è una cosa però che rende davvero tutto unico ed inimitabile, ed è l'amore che questa famiglia mette nella loro attività. Un amore che il cliente percepisce anche nel vino, dove non si può ridurre tutto ad un semplice assaggio, perché oltre al profumo ed al sapore del vino si percepisce la cultura del lavoro, il sacrificio, l'abnegazione e la competenza . Ho tampinato Ilaria con mille domande e lei con pazienza e passione ha risposto a tutte le mie curiosità. Che dire alla fine abbiamo avuto la sensazione di essere arrivati come turisti e di essere ripartiti come ospiti. Meraviglioso . Grazie Ilaria, Nicola e Luana.
