When i die, I have a hope/theory that I get a one minute highlight reel that plays through my head, just before the lights go out.

Yesterday is gonna be in that reel.

The Sellaronda mountain bike circuit. One enormous lap around the Sella Massif in the Italian Dolomites.

🚵‍♂️ 62-ish kilometres
🚡 8 ski lifts carrying bikes and increasingly tired middle-aged men uphill
⬇️ More than 4,000 vertical metres of descending
⬆️ Only about 500 metres of actual climbing
⏱️ Eight hours on the pedals
🏔️ Four mountain passes, four valleys and scenery so ridiculous it looked photoshopped.

And the riding!!!

Long flowing descents, rocky singletrack, huge alpine traverses, forests, gravel, switchbacks and the occasional section where my brain was screaming like a plane about to crash-land
“Sean… you’re 55. Pull up, pull up.”

But endorphins said otherwise 😂.

For non riders it would likely be 8 hours of high speed, rocky, cliff dropping, pure terror. Not recommended. If ya ride, it will be a life highlight.

To give some perspective, the crew at bike shop said brand new brake pads only last 3 circuits/3 days. On the trails at home my pads last 3 years!

Every time we loaded the bikes onto another gondola or chairlift, we climbed back above 2,000 metres and were spat out into another completely ridiculous Dolomite panorama.

Then we’d point the bikes downhill again.

Repeat eight times.

I’ve mountain biked in some pretty spectacular places over the years. This was something else. Not just one of the best rides I’ve ever done. One of the best DAYS I’ve ever had.

If you have some decent mountain bike skills, this is an absolute MUST MUST MUST DO 👍👍👍👍👍

Sellaronda. Italian Dolomites. You absolute tripledoublebloodyrippa.

Lucky to have scored great weather, a very capable crew of riders including German, Italian and American.

I flew the flag for Australia and proud to say I officially won the bikeshop award for worst dressed rider of the summer season, in Blundstone boots and King Gee work shorts and camping gloves. Who travels with bike gear?

Meanwhile my wife did a lovely leisurely bike ride through the meadows with the same company and another great guide.

Overall great customer service. Excellent information and really warm and welcoming staff, even when it was super busy. Both our guides and bikes were top class (I rode a Trek Fuel, rippa bike for the job. Five stars. But they do run their tire pressures haaaard to prevent flats, and ya arms and lower back will only give one star review the following day).

Found these guys through their website and everything is exactly as shown. Easy to book and clear info.

the equipment is well maintained ant the guys in the store were very helpful.
i definitely make a good choice.

Wir haben 2 geführte medium schwere Touren gemacht (zur Seceda mit Andi &durchs Val Duron mit Cindy): beide Touren sind super schön. Die Hinweise der Guides waren hilfreich und dürften für technische Trail-Abschnitte noch mehr in der Vorbereitung sein #Steile Spitzkehren &#ausgewaschener Flowtrail. Gute bis sehr gute Bikes.

Was die beiden an Trail- und Gebietskenntnis im Kopf haben, ist einfach next level. 🤯
Gefühlt 100 % Maps-Wissen – Sellaronda clockwise & counterclockwise, Val di Fassa, Alta Badia und die unzähligen Trails rund um die Sella-Gruppe. These guys know where to ride! 🔥

Und dann dieses Panorama Deluxe: Langkofel, Sella, Marmolada, Piz Boè – Dolomites all around. ⛰️☀️❤️
Views for days & trails for days.

Mike & Mark wissen aber nicht nur, wo die richtig guten Trails sind – sie kennen auch die perfect lines und fahren sie genauso vor. 💪🔥
Beim Tutti Frutti Trail war ich dafür mehr als dankbar. 😅 Ohne die perfekte Line vor mir wäre das vermutlich eher „let’s see what happens“ geworden. 😂🤘

Und das Beste: Neben all dem Können sind die beiden einfach mega sympathisch, entspannt, aufmerksam und unglaublich nett. They love what they do. Biken, Berge, Trails – und genau diesen Spirit geben sie weiter. ❤️🚵‍♀️

If I could give On The Rocks more than 5 stars I would!

I rented bikes from then on two occasions during my holiday and they couldn't have been more helpful. They took the time to give us route recommendations and get the bikes setup to our preferences

A group of us went upto the Alpes di Suisi, which they recommended riding up to, rather than taking the gondola. the E-mountain bikes were a great way to see the alpine meadows and made this effortless. On another day I rode the trails in the Val di Fassa/Canazai area, once again the E MTB was the tool for the job, allowing me to link up chairlifts and trails with ease. The bikes were in great condition and well maintained.

Mark and the team are genuinely passionate about what they do, and I will be sure to use them again in the future.

여자 스탭분이 정말 친절하셨고 바이크 상태도 매우 좋았어요. 비가 와서 알페디시우시는 못갔지만 스탭분이 추천해 주신 발롱가로 갔다가 오르티세이 복귀했는데 아주 좋았어요.

너무 재미 있어요 ..

Ebike도 한대밖에 못 빌려서.. 고민중에 한대 더 들어왔다고 2대를 빌릴 수 있어서 아들하고 잘 타고 왔습니다. 탄 시간만큼 지불하는 거라 알페디시우시 앞에서 빌리는 것보다 저렴합니다..

사장님도 마인드가 매우 좋고 친절해요...
